The cheerleaders also assert that the Texans engaged in negligent hiring and negligent retention. In short, the cheerleaders maintain that the Texans should have never hired someone like Gary or continued to employ her. Team management is also accused of failing to intervene in the alleged mistreatment. Similarly, the Texans are blamed for failing to supervise, train and retain competent employees.

The Cowboys look a lot different from the 2016 team that went 13-3 en route to earning the NFC’s No. 1 seed. But the team hopes its strengths from that year are the same: The offensive line and RB Ezekiel Elliott, playing a full season in 2018 after being suspended for six games last year, as the result of domestic violence allegations from a former girlfriend. Bryant’s release hinted at some of the tension that was under the surface during the 2017 season, and whether Jerry Jones says it or not, head coach Jason Garrett, entering his eighth year with just three winning seasons and a single postseason victory, is on the hot seat.

And he learned a lot during his time in the NFL. As much he gave to the league, he also took plenty that he believes will make him a better college coach than the one who left Oregon in January 201His Bruins, for example, do more situational work than his Ducks ever did, which is a result of the impression the NFL left on him.

In the NFL, the game is a lot more situational, just because the games are so close, Kelly said. You have to be great at the end of the half. A lot of times in college, it’s 28-0 at the half and you’re not really in a two-minute situation. In the NFL, games are so much closer that situational play just comes up more often. That’s what a lot of games come down to.

There’s a channel dedicated to it, the Red Zone Channel. It’s dedicated to how critical those situations are. And when the Red Zone Channel is really buzzing is at the end of the 1 o’clock games going into the 4 o’clock games because there’s eight of them that are within a touchdown of each other, and you need a critical stop or a critical conversion to keep things going.

NFL seeking end of Colin Kaepernick collusion case, report says

Isn’t that worse than not standing? Trump said of the locker-room option at a rally in Montana. That doesn’t play. I actually think in many ways its worse.

Meanwhile, the NFL is seeking to have dismissed a grievance filed by Kaepernick, in which he claims he has been blackballed by the league and its owners and teams, since initiating his protest. He remains a free agent, having not been signed for the 2017 season, either.

I also think this thing that we talked about before called gambling it’s going to make ratings go down. I just have a feeling about that.

Football … this is the best sport in my opinion. I love this game. I love watching this game. I can watch almost any team on any Sunday. It’s great entertainment. And while I love the playoffs of other sports, it’s not football. You watch a regular-season baseball game and let me know how that goes. And I’m not making any cracks about baseball. I apologize to baseball fans everywhere. I love baseball. Roberto Clemente was my idol when I was a kid.

McCown should win the competition, but the Jets are the big winners for setting themselves up to get the best out of him, Bridgewater and Darnold without setting the team back.

Woman reportedly files lawsuit against Jaguars’ Marcell Dareus alleging he had sex with her while she was unconscious

A civil lawsuit has been filed in Florida against Jaguars defensive lineman Marcell Dareus alleging he had sex with a woman while she was unconscious and transmitted an STD to her without disclosing his condition.

According to News 4 Jax, a woman only identified as Jane Doe in her lawfuit filed in Duval County, Fla. alleges she went out with Dareus in Houston in April and went to a hotel room with him that night.

She alleges she fell asleep in the hotel and does not remember what happened. When she awoke, Dareus allegedly told her they had sex though she says she does not remember what happened.

The Chargers score on the resulting drive and it’s officially out of control.

It’d be easy to blame pressure from Bosa again for this pick. But look at where Peterman’s throwing it. Deonte Thompson is waiting for the ball to the outside of his man. Peterman puts it on the inside.

The one thing Peterman’s avoided so far in this game is throwing an INT on his very first snap of the drive. Until now.

Taylor only threw one pick over his last five games (and one in a playoff loss to the Jaguars). But it was a much more conservative game plan the Bills were leaning on than what they called to start the season.

It’s easy to look at a career debut like Peterman’s and think that’s more typical of what you get out of a late-round pick forced into a starting job way before he’s ready.

Peterman got one more start, this time in place of an injured Taylor for a Week 14 against the Colts. He threw for 57 yards and a touchdown, but left the game with a concussion. The Bills won, 13-7, in overtime with Joe Webb under center.

Don’t let McDermott and the Bills coaches off the hook for his starting debut, though. Peterman would have never have been in position to be the first quarterback in eight years to throw five picks in his debut if not for his coach’s rash decision.

There’s Brady coming through with some extremely on-brand dad levels of trash talk, tagging some of the league’s top quarterbacks and suggesting they hold their own group workout this summer. Somewhere, the assistants that handle the Instagram accounts of Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, and Cameron Newton (who Brady tagged in a later comment) just perked up after hours of scrolling through awful mentions.

Sherman and Talib each came back with some playful responses, with the 49ers cornerback looping some of the game’s top wide receivers into the conversation.

So in the course of a few hours, Brady and the guy he beat in Super Bowl 49 had a playful discussion about offseason practices that could, in theory, bring some of the league’s best players together to run drills and play the greatest pickup game ever assembled. Social media is good sometimes.

West Virginia was also proactive in pushing its betting legislation, approving a bill this spring to legalize and regulate sports wagering through the state’s five established casinos and through online apps run by those institutions.

The Jaguars and Panthers are still the expansion choices, and Baltimore still gets the Ravens.

It’s really just a swap of the Colts’ and Cardinals’ locales.

The aforementioned reception Jacksonville gave Irsay happened on Aug. 15, 1979. It was dubbed Colt Fever.

With Irsay in town to see the Gator Bowl — a hypothetical new home for the Colts — a crowd of somewhere between 40,000 and 55,000 filled the stadium to watch the Colts owner land a helicopter on the field.

Anybody in his right mind has to be very pleased and enthused with this reception, Irsay said of Jacksonville at the time, according to the Washington Post.

But Irsay’s flirtation with Jacksonville only turned the city into a bargaining chip for every NFL owner on the hunt for a new stadium.

I haven’t any intention of moving the goddamn team … I flew six hours to be here tonight to tell you goddamn guys off.

Irsay was probably the only one who knew how close Phoenix came to actually landing the team, but it was a real possibility.

If it did happen — like the first two scenarios — we’ll imagine that the Cardinals land in Indianapolis instead. And that’s really the only wrench in the domino effect.

San Francisco 49ers legend Dwight Clark — most famous for his 1982 reception from Joe Montana forever dubbed The Catch — died Monday after a battle with ALS.

I’m heartbroken to tell you that today I lost my best friend and husband. He passed peacefully surrounded by many of the people he loved most. I am thankful for all of Dwight’s friends, teammates and 49ers fans who have sent their love during his battle with ALS. Kelly Clark.

Clark was a 10th-round draft pick in the 1979 NFL Draft and quickly established himself as one of Montana’s favorite targets. He was a Pro Bowler in 1981 and 1982, and led the league in receptions during a strike-shortened 1982 season.

His most famous moment came in the 1981 NFC Championship between the 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. With less than a minute remaining in the game, Montana lobbed a pass high into the back of the end zone that Clark managed to haul in for a six-yard touchdown sending the 49ers to the Super Bowl.

Clark’s No. 87 was retired by the 49ers and he briefly served as an NFL executive, including a four-year stint as the general manager of the Cleveland Browns. He announced in March 2017 he had been diagnosed with ALS and spoke to 49ers fans in October at Levi’s Stadium.

Kyrie Irving has no issue with Collin Sexton wearing his old Cavaliers number

Rookie guard Collin Sexton will be wearing Kyrie Irving’s old No. 2 when he suits up for the Cavaliers, but Irving said Sexton’s decision to take the number doesn’t matter.

The Celtics finished 2017-18 with a 55-27 record. They advanced to the Eastern Conference finals, where they fell to the Cavaliers in seven games.

A 7-1 center drafted into an NBA obsessed with size, Schintzius lasted only a year with the Spurs, a season in which he played in 42 games and averaged 3.8 points and 2.9 rebounds. He managed to bounce around the league long enough to earn more than $5 million but never played more than 43 games in a season nor averaged as many as 4 points per game. Tragically, he developed a rare form of leukemia long after his playing career ended and died three years later, in 2012, at age 43.

In fairness to the Heat, there was not a whole lot they could have done with the 25th pick in the draft that would have been much better than what they did. There weren’t even many serviceable players beyond that point. James went on to distinguish himself beyond basketball by enlisting in the military and serving the United States in Iraq.

It will be interesting how market dynamics affect the other subset of extensions: those for first-round picks from the 2015 draft class entering their fourth seasons. A few, including Karl-Anthony Towns and Devin Booker, figure to receive max-level offers early — if not right at midnight July 1.

A note on Towns: He is not eligible for the super-max, paying him 30 percent of the cap, even though he made an All-NBA team last season. He has to make it again next season. The Wolves can write that contingency into his extension, guaranteeing him the super-max if he qualifies.

If Towns qualifies, Minnesota could be on the hook for about $125 million in 2019-20 salary to only five guys: Towns, Jimmy Butler (presumably on a new max deal), Jeff Teague ($19 million player option for that season), Gorgui Dieng and Andrew Wiggins. That doesn’t even include recent draft picks or anyone the Wolves might sign to a two-year deal this summer.

The Magic struck what looks like a reasonable deal for both sides with Gordon, a restricted free agent.

It’s true that Orlando could perhaps have driven a harder bargain with Gordon now that few teams have the money necessary to sign him to a similar offer sheet (and none of them have the apparent interest in doing so).

Dragging things out with Gordon would have risked him taking his $7.3 million qualifying offer and trying his luck as an unrestricted free agent next season. While that strategy is much riskier, Gordon could have matched the money he’s guaranteed in this deal without getting a full max offer in the summer of 2019.

The structure of this deal will be interesting to see. As Nate Duncan noted on Twitter, Orlando would be wise to frontload Gordon’s contract. With Hezonja’s departure, the Magic could start Gordon at the highest possible salary (nearly $24 million), use the entirety of their non-taxpayer midlevel exception and still be safely below the luxury-tax line. As the cap goes up and the deal descends, Gordon’s salary would then represent a relatively much smaller percentage of Orlando’s payroll over time.

It feels good when you get the results, Bradley said. Both were very pivotal for the game.

Bradley’s shot to right was the 20th homer the Red Sox hit in six games against Los Angeles, sweeping the season series against the Angels for the first time since they joined the American League as an expansion club in 1961.

Boston outscored Los Angeles 49-12 while taking all six games, which according to the Red Sox is the first six-game season sweep in club history.

The Red Sox have won four straight and six of seven as they head to New York to open three-game series between the rivals on Friday night with first place in the AL East on the line.

Hector Velazquez (6-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out three. Craig Kimbrel earned his 24th save with a scoreless ninth inning.

Clay Matthews to have surgery after line drive to the face in Packers’ charity baseball game

This isn’t going to make NFL teams any more comfortable when their players participate in other sports no matter how much fun they’re having or how worthy the cause they may be supporting.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, pitching in the team’s annual softball game, took a line drive to the face Saturday afternoon on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ field in Appleton, Wis. The sound was frightening and so was the sight as Matthews immediately went to the ground, then quickly left the field with his glove covering his face.

Matthews headed straight for a hospital and later tweeted, I busted my nose pretty good and will have surgery once the swelling subsides.

The week begins with Lewis walking into a bar off Peachtree Road exasperated and congested and, for the love of God, someone please pour the man a beer. The Tavern at Phipps’ bartender cannot slide a Sweetwater 420 Extra Pale Ale to Lewis fast enough.

Before uttering a word about anything else, Lewis points to his nose and explains that polyps have been clogging the lining of his nasal passages for six months.

People don’t know how much they breathe out of their nose!

So any time he’s speaking and eating, Lewis literally cannot breathe. Sleeping is nearly impossible, and Lewis already snored like a freight train.

The man who once resembled Mike Tyson from scowl to six-pack now can’t work out and is more Butterbean. He figures all of the pollen in the Georgia air created these polyps, but his deviated septum sure can’t help. When a doctor asked if Lewis took a hit to the face at some point, he chuckled. Uh. Yeah. You could say that. At some point over his nine NFL seasons, his nose shifted.

Lewis traces a finger from the very top of his nose to the bottom. Where a CT scan here should show all white, his is all black.

Report: Chris Baker signing with Bengals

Defensive lineman Chris Baker has agreed to a one-year deal with Cincinnati, via Chick Hernandez of NBC Sports Washington.

Baker, who is down to 300 pounds, has passed his physical, via Hernandez.

The Bucs signed Baker to a three-year, $15.75 million contract, with $6 million guaranteed, during the 2017 offseason. But Baker, who made only 33 tackles in 15 games, didn’t prove a fit in any way, and the Bucs elected to save $4.88 million with his release.

The last three years, Willson shared the field with five-time Pro Bowler Jimmy Graham. The two developed a close bond and Willson praised his former teammate for elevating his approach.

“I think the biggest thing that I picked up from Jimmy was the effort he put into his body and his preparation off the field,” Willson said. “I thought I was dedicated years ago. Then I met Jimmy and I realized there was a whole other level I had to get myself to.”

That’s not because he was thrilled with the effort he put forth at the combine, however. Ridley told Kimberly Jones of NFL Media that he wasn’t happy with how he ran the 40 he posted a 4.43 time or other drills even if he doesn’t see the point of some of them.

I don’t get into a receiver stance and broad jump before I run a route, Ridley said. Whoever gets me is getting a great er, Ridley said. бн I know I can beat all those scores by a lot, but I was trying to get ready for my 40, which I was upset about, too. I didn’t have a great combine, not like I wanted to. I should’ve gone in there and just run the 40 and run routes, and done all the other stuff here. бн Mistake.

Ridley also told Jones that he still feels like he is the best receiver in the draft and draft analysts agree with that ranking as we move closer to the start of the first round in April.

The nightmares from NFC West quarterbacks have become a reality. The Los Angeles Rams and All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh have agreed to a one-year contract, the team announced , meaning he will join forces with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald .
